For the 13th time, the Eo Wijers Foundation is organising the Eo Wijers competition with a regional design challenge. Design teams are challenged to develop a vision for a region in the theme ‘Invigorating Views’, regional designing for health and happiness. Participate!

The Eo Wijers Foundation board had the luxury of being able to choose from strong submissions from all regions. The selection forms a nice mix of regions spread across the Netherlands, all of them with an interesting regional spatial design challenge and a clear assignment on a healthy, happy living environment. In the coming period, the regions’ questions will be deepened together with the parties involved.

The design competition will cover the following 3 regions:

• Drenthe – Overijssel: Large-scale high moorland clearings in the municipalities of Hoogeveen, Coevorden, Hardenberg and Ommen.

• Mooi Maasvallei: North Limburg and East Brabant with the municipalities of Land van Cuijk, Gennep and Bergen.

• Region Foodvalley: eight municipalities in the province of Utrecht and Gelderland: Barneveld, Ede, Nijkerk, Rhenen, Renswoude, Scherpenzeel, Veenendaal and Wageningen.

On Friday morning, 10 October 2025, the kick-off meeting will take place, in which the three regions will pitch their spatial assignment. Put the date in your calendar!
