The Professional Association of Dutch Urban Designers and Planners (BNSP) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the BNSP is publishing the book ‘Stand van de Stedenbouw’ on 30 January 2026. Order the book now via the BNSP.

Stand van de Stedenbouw

The book is published by the BNSP and offers a unique overview of current practices in Dutch spatial planning. It shows how urban design relates to current challenges, such as growing pressure on scarce space, the housing shortage and the continuing need for good living environments.

‘Stand van de Stedenbouw’ presents 250 urban development plans from across the country, ranging from inner-city densification to large-scale area developments.

Interviews, reflections and analyses explore and connect current themes. In addition to maps and floor plans, the book also contains an overview of the most controversial plans of the past 25 years.

The aim of the publication is not only to provide an overview and insight, but also to invite discussion and reflection. It is both a source of inspiration and a plea for spatial decisiveness.
