Mon 12 January - Mon 23 February 2026

The Prix de Rome is the oldest and most prestigious stimulus award for architects under the age of 40. On 12 January 2026, the Creative Industries Fund NL will launch a new edition with a thematic open call inviting reflection on the limits and possibilities of architecture. To what extent is it still possible to design for a better way of living?

Architects, urban designers, landscape architects and other spatial designers are eligible to compete for a prize of €60,000 and support for an international residency of their choice. The deadline is 23 February 2026. From the submissions, the jury will select four shortlisted candidates who, following a four-month working period, will present their results in an exhibition at the Nieuwe Instituut.

Syb Groeneveld, Director-CEO of the Creative Industries Fund NL and Chair of the Jury, states:
‘The aim of the prize is to identify, encourage and support promising architects, urban designers, landscape architects and other spatial designers in their professional development and visibility. At the same time, the prize contributes to innovation within the field and fuels debate on the role of architecture and spatial design in society. In this way, the Prix de Rome Architecture forms an important link between emerging talent, the discipline and a broad national and international audience.’

The jury of the Prix de Rome Architecture 2026 consists of: Lesia Topolnyk (winner of the Prix de Rome 2022, architect, founder of StudioSpaceStation), Dirk Sijmons (landscape architect, co-founder of H+N+S Landscape Architects), Nick Axel (deputy editor of e-flux Architecture, Head of Architectural Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie), Paul Cournet (architect, founder of CLOUD), Inez Tan (architect, partner at Office Winhov) and Ekim Tan (architect, founder of Games for Cities, Director of Play the City).

The Open Call for the Prix de Rome Architecture 2026 is open from 12 January 2026 and can be viewed in the funding overview of the Creative Industries Fund NL.
