Will you bike along with Bruno Doedens?

Will you be cycling with Bruno Doedens and his tree bike for Circle4Change on 12 and/or 13 September?

Bruno:

“Imagine a procession of people on bicycles, connected by one story, one dream, one tree. Together with the tree bike on our way to Leeuwarden.

On Friday 12 September, we will cross the iconic Afsluitdijk from Den Oever to Exmorra.

On Saturday 13 September, we will continue our route from Exmorra to Leeuwarden.

There, we will plant the tree that has cycled five thousand kilometres with us: our holm oak. A festive moment that we would like many people to join us for. How wonderful would it be if we all cycled those last stages together? Would you like to cycle with us on one or both days? Let us know – and cycle with us into a bright future.”

A tree is biking through Europe

Circle4Change aims to become a large-scale, multi-year European social landscape artwork that connects and inspires, focusing on good ancestry and long-term thinking, on the path to a symbiotic world in harmony with the earth. Circle4Change draws a circular line through nine European countries, with Leeuwarden (NL) and Nova Gorica (SI-IT) as its two poles (Cultural Capitals in 2018 and 2025).

Every three years, the circle line is put in the spotlight with a circle-encompassing event. In April 2025, the first activity began: “A tree is cycling through Europe”. Along the 5,000 km route, the “Birthday Tree” is introduced: “It’s my birthday, so I’m planting a tree”. The first Tour in 2025 is comparable to the “torch tour” for the Olympic Games; it is the announcement and prelude to 2028, when a “whole forest” will be cycled through Europe. In this way, many people will plant many birthday trees in the coming years, creating many birthday forests along the route and collectively creating an enormous landscape artwork.
