Investing together in a healthy, liveable city
A climate-proof, green city has many beneficiaries. Such as insurers who have to pay less in damages. And the health sector, which is less overrun because urban greenery is medicine for body and mind. Not to mention the water management sector as a direct beneficiary of public space investments.
If one city shows that investing in green and blue pays off, it is Dordrecht. Water was once the source of all prosperity there. Now, investments in greenery and other measures to combat flooding, drought, heat and emergency scenarios again have many benefit holders. But how do you turn all those benefit holders into investors?
‘Climate as an opportunity – Investing together in a healthy, liveable city’ is therefore the theme of the 21st National Public Space Congress (NORC) that Stedelijk Interieur and the Dutch Association for Garden and Landscape Architecture (NVTL) are organising on Thursday 2 October, together with Stichting Steenbreek and host city Dordrecht.
