Selection of Dutch projects: 3 projects, of which 1 main project.

Selection announced: late February / early March.
Exhibition opens: During the General Assembly in Riga, 2 to 6 September 2026. The exhibition will then travel to other countries.

NVTL work group International invites all NVTL members to send in a project for Reconnecting Landscape, the coming IFLA Europe Exhibition 2026. Another inspiring exhibition – one that, like previous years, will travel across the IFLA member countries and around the world, offering fresh opportunities for connection, dialogue and the celebration of landscape architecture.
In this edition of the exhibition, we will present projects that shape and restore connections within landscapes. We are looking for design examples which illustrate how can be rebuilt at cultural, social and semantic levels. These can be large-scale linear park systems, or targeted, small-scale interventions acting as keystones crucial for reconnecting fragmented networks.
A landscape-oriented approach to space allows for integration and reconnection in the broadest sense – cultural, natural, and semantic. From this perspective, landscape architecture becomes a way of design by which the landscape itself acts as an organising mechanism – structuring space in a broad and multi-layered manner.
We’re looking for projects in public spaces (or open to the public) that reflect the exhibition theme Reconnecting Landscape, implemented between 2021 and 2026. After the deadline of 15 February 2026, three projects will be selected from the Dutch entries for the virtual exhibition and catalogue, one of which will be presented on panels in the physical exhibition. The jury consists of: Joeri de Bekker, Niek Hazendonk, John Boon and Alexandra Tisma.
Projectspecificaties
We kindly invite you to share with us examples of completed public-space projects that play a significant role as connective elements — spaces that restore lost links or create new ones.
We are interested in community-level connections explored in projects that carry meaning and create opportunities for engaging with the past and the present while accounting for the future change — ones that reflect identity and tradition, rediscover them and connect them with the contemporary world. We are searching for places that encourage dialogue and encounters — both among people and between people and nature. Spaces should shape the framework of everyday life, fostering exchange and interaction across cultures and age groups.
By bringing together these multidimensional aspects, the exhibition will highlight the remarkable complexity of landscape and demonstrate its capacity to serve as an ideal medium for a rich, layered, connecting and evolving narrative.
- The project is designed as a public space, or as a space open to the public;
- The project ties in with the theme Reconnecting Landscape;
- The completion date is between 2021 and 2026.

- Project data: country, title, design agency, exact address, area, investor (client), main contractor, budget, year of completion.
- Project description in English, maximum 1200 characters including spaces.
- Five professional photos of the project. Dimensions: shortest side at least 2500 pixels; resolution: 300 ppi. Photographer credits. One of the photos should be marked as the main image.
- One simple floor plan or diagram.
- Completed consent form for use of the material for the exhibition.
