NVTL responds to draft version of DNR2025
The board and office of NVTL are actively involved in the pre-consultation of the DNR2025, the revised regulations for the legal relationship between designers and clients in public spaces. Together with a group of five NVTL office members, we provided feedback to the DNR2025 project group last week. This update replaces the DNR2011 and better reflects current developments, such as digitization, sustainability, safety, and evolving legal frameworks.
In practice, clients frequently deviated from the standard terms and conditions, which hampered the contracting and insurance of projects. DNR2025 aims to change this by making the regulations more accessible, better reflecting practical practices, and better balancing the interests of both parties.
The development of DNR2025 is a collaborative process by a project group initiated by BNA and NL Ingenieurs, under the guidance of an independent lawyer. A broad representation was deliberately chosen to ensure the regulation is suitable for offices of various sizes and specializations.
The draft version is currently being discussed with external parties, such as fellow associations, clients, and insurers. Input is also being gathered through public consultations. The final version is expected to be published by the end of 2025. The aim is to establish a future-proof and legally robust standard that will significantly improve contracting practices for designers and clients in the field.
