Welkom to Lieneke van Campen as NVTL board member

During the second General Meeting of this year on June 12, our new board member Lieneke van Campen (Karres and Brands) was warmly welcomed by the members present. Congratulations!
Lieneke wrote in the board statement about her background and the topics she will be committed to as a board member of Office Interests (Bureaubelangen): (translated from Dutch)
“At Van Hall-Larenstein University of Applied Sciences in Velp I studied garden and landscape design and next, in 2005, I completed the Academy of Architecture (landscape architecture). My working career started at Buro Lubbers. After two years, I made the switch to Grontmij (now Sweco). During my studies at the academy, I started as a designer at Karres en Brands in 2001. In 2013, I became a partner and have been part of the management team ever since. At Karres en Brands, I combine my many years of experience as a landscape architect with the role of managing partner.
We are faced with important challenges that relate to the balance between nature and culture. We talk a lot about future-proofing our living environment, in which climate change and biodiversity play a major role. The sustainability of public space is a crucial aspect of our work. Public spaces have the potential to be ecologically valuable and at the same time socially functional. The search for aesthetics, functionality and ecology is a constant challenge and requires cooperation between clients, designers, managers and users. Realising beautiful projects ‘together’ is my spearhead and that sometimes requires stamina.
As a board member, I think I can build a valuable bridge between the design offices and the NVTL. In my opinion it is essential to strengthen the platform together, in a way that agencies feel heard, can actively contribute and are supported in their professional development, while the association as a whole strengthens its role as an advocate and organisation of knowledge. I look forward to making an upgrade in professionalisation within the NVTL and together with colleagues, and to being able to represent the interests of the offices.
