Securing a good contract with your client is often a challenge. But there is no need to worry. In this workshop, Contracts for Architects and Project Managers, you will learn practical tools to approach contract formation with confidence.
NVTL and BNI, together with trainer Corinne Schrauwen, are organising a morning for members at our office at NDSM, during which the most important aspects of contracts and contract management for a landscape or interior architectural assignment will be explained in a practical way. What do you need to consider when entering into an agreement and what are your responsibilities as a landscape or interior architect? What matters are regulated in the DNR? The new, revised DNR will be discussed shortly as well. How do you ensure that agreements are properly recorded, both before and during the process?
The workshop will make you aware of the consequences and possibilities of the agreements that are made and provide practical tools for working with them in practice.

Workshop
The workshop for NVTL & BNI members will be based on a number of sample contracts for landscape and interior design assignments. You will learn how to quickly identify opportunities and risks and how to respond to them when drafting and negotiating the agreement. Common bottlenecks will be discussed, participants will exchange experiences and the trainer will offer practical tools.
The workshop will be structured as follows:
- Discussion of the themes and points of attention from the sample contracts, participants’ experiences and feedback from the trainer.
- General explanation of the most important topics in contracts: use of the DNR, liability and copyright.
- Tips and tricks to help you assess a contract with more confidence and tailor it to your needs next time.
Trainer
The workshop will be given by Corinne Schrauwen. Corinne is an independent consultant who supports designers with the business and organisational aspects of their professional practice. Corinne has extensive experience as an architect, entrepreneur and manager of architectural firms.
