The Position
As a Senior Urbanist at DELVA, you are more than a designer—you are a strategic thinker, innovator, and leader. You guide design processes, ensuring that each project reflects the unique identity of its location while meeting technical, social, and environmental needs. You’ll manage projects in strategic visions, frameworks, and urban plans, representing DELVA with partners, stakeholders, and clients. This role provides the space to shape projects and the position itself, allowing you to leverage your unique skills and qualities while contributing to DELVA’s evolving vision.
Your ability to distill complex urban challenges into bold and feasible spatial solutions is key to your success. You lead with a clear, holistic vision that integrates landscape architecture, sustainability, and innovative urban design. Always approaching urbanism from a landscape perspective, you ensure that these solutions are deeply rooted in the surrounding environment. You inspire others and drive new urban approaches that contribute to liveable, future-proof surroundings.
What We’re Looking For:
- An experienced urban designer or planner with at least 5 years in a similar role.
- A completed master’s degree in Urbanism, Urban Design, Landscape architecture with an urban focus or a related discipline.
- A strong interest in sustainable and innovative urban planning solutions.
- A holistic approach to urban design, with the ability to rethink challenges from the landscape perspective, daring to approach complex projects with innovative solutions rooted in the landscape’s potential.
- Proven experience leading urban planning projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills in Dutch and English (Dutch is essential for this role, on a B1 level).
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Cloud, and knowledge of Rhino, Revit, and BIM is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure and communicate design narratives effectively.
- A proactive, self-starting team player who can work independently and confidently present projects.
- Availability for a minimum of 36 hours per week.
