The Nature-based Future Challenge - NVTL

The Nature-based Future Challenge

do 28 september 2023

In November 2023 Wageningen University & Research launches the first edition of the international student competition Nature-based Future Challenge in the Bengal Delta, Bangladesh.

International student teams are asked to visualise the potential of nature-based solutions to respond to the biggest challenges of the 21st century: climate change and biodiversity loss. Based on soil and water data, and interviews with stakeholders, the teams will create a vision for Bangladesh in 2100 and present it in the form of adaptive spatial planning maps and illustrative renderings. The results of the Challenge will provide inspiration and transformative pathways for decision-makers and a hopeful perspective for future generations.

Will you join?

The Challenge is open to BSc, MSc, and PhD students worldwide. Relevant study backgrounds include, amongst other, Landscape architecture, Spatial planning, Forestry, (Organic) Agriculture, Nature Conservation, Environmental Sciences, Land, Water, Urban and Marine Resources Management, Sociology. Students can join with their own team or register as single participants and be assigned to a team.

It is a unique opportunity for students to boost their professional skills, learn from and network with industry leaders, and to meet and exchange ideas with students from universities worldwide. Top teams receive a participation certificate and travel & accommodation budget to attend the Grand Finals in the Netherlands. The prize for the winning team is 9000 EUR.
